I had a very busy day last Friday, Jan. 30, and practically out of the house the whole day.  When I arrived in the afternoon and checked my YM, there are several offline buzzes from Len-Len Libante, one of my barkadas.  As I was replying to her, I’ve received a call from Samuel.  He told me to check if the text message he received is confirmed re another barkada, Jeannette, that something bad happened to her.  I was really shocked and could not think of anyone to confirm the message since Pot is out of the country at that time.  As I was saying my silent prayer for Jeannette, I tried to contact Mhelo,  and she confirmed that our friend passed away but the reason is still not clear since they haven’t talked with any of her (Jennette’s) family members yet.  With this, I couldn’t hold my emotions any longer and Mhelo and I were both crying over the phone remembering our friend.  We decided to meet at the church before we go to Jennette’s house for the wake.  more…

The first reading of newly elected officers for Imelda SDA Church were about to begin. Everyone is alert as to who the new set of officers will be. What makes it unique is that the tenure for this set of new officers would be for two straight years as well as the technicalities that all board members should not be elected as member of the special and nominating committees. I find it odd that when the board presented to the body this new rule, nobody objected and it was unanimously agreed by everyone. But when the election for the special nominating committee is well underway, then I’ve heard some complaints about the tenure which is very long. Maybe it took them some time before they realized what will be the impact of what they have voted at. I am not that concern with these issues because first of all, I am not a member of the church. So as much as I wanted to protest the tenure as well as other technicalities of this year’s election but I do not have the right in the first place. more…

bam-bamJust like all Adventist school, Friday is half day only. When Bambam arrived home, I asker her how’s exam and she told me that she was able to get 95% on her Math. I was ecstatic and happy for her, and she’s just a little bit short of having P100 today. When Gabi arrived, she’s very proud to announce that she got 93% on her Math. This is really the cherry on the ice cream for me. I did not expect her to get that score and I’m very happy for her. more…
